1. WHAT MAKES HELLO KICO UNIQUE?

I care for only one family at a time (just your child or children), ensuring a peaceful, personalized experience. With our live video feed and two-way talk system, parents can relax knowing they can check in anytime or even chat with their child.

2. WHAT AGES DO YOU ACCEPT?

I welcome children from a month old up to 6 years of age.

3. WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM HELLO KICO?

Parents of infants and young children (ages 0–6) who need flexible, short-term childcare during the day. Perfect for those balancing work, errands, or self-care and who value a warm, secure, play-based environment with sustainable toys and real-time video access.

4. IS THIS A LICENSED CHILDCARE CENTER?

    Hello KiCo is a home-based private on-demand play+care service, not a licensed daycare. However, it follows best practices in early learning, safety, and sanitation.

We understand the importance of nurturing your child’s physical, emotional, and intellectual growth in a safe and loving environment. Our approach to childcare [play + care] thoughtfully draws inspiration from both Reggio Emilia & Montessori philosophies - honoring each child’s individuality, curiosity, and natural desire to learn. 


6. IS IT SAFE TO BOOK CHILDCARE THROUGH HELLO KICO?

Yes! Lea is a registered practical nurse in Ontario with over two years of NICU experience, more than two years as a licensed professional teacher, and over three years of hands-on childcare experience. I am certified in First Aid & CPR-C/AED, have a clear vulnerable sector police check, and actively volunteer at an EarlyON Child and Family Centre. Most importantly. I’m a dedicated mom to a bright 6-year-old and 11-year-old twins, bringing both professional and personal care to every child . This September 2025, I’ll begin my Early Childhood diploma to deepen my understanding of child development and learning through play. 


7. DO YOU OFFER PART-TIME OR OCCASIONAL CARE?

Yes! Hello KiCo offers flexible on-demand play+care on an hourly, or on-call basis to accommodate the changing needs of modern families. There is no long-term commitment or registration fee required. Use the service when you need it, and that’s it.

8. WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS?

Available anytime from 9am to 3pm when my children are in school.

Availability is also determined based on the client's demand and mutual fit. If 9am to 3pm doesn't work for you, just reach out and let me know what times work best.

9. DO YOU OFFER PLAY + CARE  DURING THE SUMMER OR ON TLDSB PA DAYS?

Summer care and PA Day coverage (Trillium Lakelands District School Board) are not currently available. Play + care is typically offered only during regular school days while my own children are in school.

10. WHAT IS YOUR SERVICE AREA?

Hello KiCo is based in Lindsay, Ontario and proudly serves families across the Kawartha Lakes region.

11. WHAT HAPPENS IF MY CHILD IS SICK ON A DAY I'VE ALREADY BOOKED?

I understand that illness is unpredictable. If your child is sick on a scheduled day, just let us know as soon as possible. You won’t be charged for missed time, and we’ll do our best to reschedule if needed. In some cases, playcare may be available in your own home, provided you are an existing client with a family profile on file. Mileage costs may apply.

12. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY OWN CHILD IS SICK AND HOME?

In the unlikely event that my own child is sick and home, my husband will be her primary caregiver. However, there may be brief moments when my attention is needed. I will always do my best to ensure this does not affect the quality of care your child receives. If you prefer to cancel, you are welcome to do so and your deposit will be refunded.

13. CAN YOU PROVIDE IN-HOME PLAY + CARE?

Yes, for existing clients with a completed family profile, I will come to your home to provide playcare on an as-needed basis. A mileage fee will be added to this service. 

14. DO YOU OFFER  CARE FOR CHILDREN WHO ARE SICK AND NEED TO STAY HOME  FROM SCHOOL OR DAYCARE?

Yes, in some cases I can offer care at your home if your child is unable to attend school or daycare and you're required to go to work. This service is only available to returning clients with a completed family profile. A mileage fee will be added to this service. 

15. CAN I VISIT THE SPACE BEFORE BOOKING?

Absolutely! I welcome families to schedule a visit to our playroom, meet Lea, the owner, and ask any questions before booking. We want you to feel confident and comfortable before making your decision.

16. WHAT IS YOUR PAYMENT POLICY?

To reserve your spot, a 50% deposit is due at the time of booking. This deposit is non-refundable unless you need to cancel for a valid reason, such as:

      - Your child is unwell (fever, contagious illness, or vomiting in the last 24 hours) 

      - A family emergency

      - Severe weather or road closures that make travel unsafe

The remaining balance can be paid on the day of care.

This helps us keep your spot secure and plan our day, especially for your child.

17. DO YOU ISSUE RECEIPTS?

Yes!

18. WHAT IS HELLO KICO IN A NUTSHELL?

It’s basically sharing our family playroom with like-minded parents who need a break. I am offering their children a safe, inspiring place to play and learn while they recharge with peace of mind, run errands, attend appointments, or enjoy some well-deserved me-time.
